where can i buy fresh jicama? i've only had it prepared, so i'm not even sure i know what it looks like unpeeled and unchopped.

I'm a huge fan of jicama and once made a jicama, cucumber and mango salad that was really tasty.  I think I've seen it locally at Trade Fair on 75th/37th.

Jicama sprinkled with olive oil, lemon juice, salt and a bit of chili powder is awesome in hot weather.

The large fruit and vegetable market on 82nd St., about a half block from Roosevelt on the Elmhurst side, has jicama today.  It looks very fresh and I believe the price is 99 cents a pound.

This market is open 24 hours a day and seems about as good as the other produce markets around (possibly better on fruit and average or less good with vegetables).  They also have a small selection of groceries, and a large dairy area.
