Happened upon this JH kitchen reno on Youtube.  Maybe could provide some good ideas for anyone looking to renovate a galley kitchen.

Great video. This is a typical JH galley kitchen. I've grown to love ours. At first I had grand plans to rip it all out and have an "open floor plan". But all the budget was going to the bathroom, which was in much worse shape. So we did what we thought at the time would be a temporary DIY. Paint, additional cabinets, subway tiled backsplash, fixtures. Here's a before and after:

Now, having lived with it a while, I love a galley kitchen. Keeps cooking smells in the kitchen, and after dinner dishes out of sight until we're ready to deal with them.

This is exactly why I procrastinated for years (you might remember the kitchen thread I started in about 2008!)  I am almost done with mine now -- should be complete within a week or so.  I was lucky to find a contractor who made the whole process very easy on me.  I did have to move all my stuff out of the kitchen (of course) and make do with just a fridge and microwave for a couple of weeks but it really wasn't so bad.

Very Nice - not a fan of white cabinets but these were really nicely done.

I'm doing a galley kitchen right now with a similar countertop in Jamaica Estates - Ill be done in a few days.  Great use of space

I suppose it would be too much to ask what is the final cost for the kitchen?

Thank you.
