can someone please tell me a place to get huevos rancheros for breakfast? thank you.

Haven't tried them for breakfast, but I'm pretty sure that I've seen huevos rancheros on Taqueria Coatzingo's menu.  Coatzingo is on Roosevelt Ave., between 75th and 76th (I believe).

Coatzingo does have Huevos Rancheros. It was ok, but not great.

Coatzingo has a second location as well.  It's on 82nd St. just steps away from the 7 train stop, on the Elmhurst side.  The address is 40-18 82nd St. Elmhurst

Sorry to go off-topic.  This thread reminds me that in Berkeley, CA there used to be a breakfast place called Buttercup that served a delicious dish called "Huevos Kathmandu."  It was huevos rancheros, but with curry instead of salsa.  Absolutely delicious.  It would be a perfect fit for Jackson Heights.

thank you.  I haven't had huevos rancheros since I lived in L.A. and one of my roommates used to cook it on Sundays.  And I've been looking for any reason to get to La Flor and you've just given me two! Cool.

So my friend and I went there this morning for breakfast.  Very cute inside.  Interesting menu.  I had the scrambled eggs, potatoes and chorizo and my friend had the mushroom, cheese omelette.  Sadly, it wasn't something I'd say was "good" just okay.  We each ordered a muffin to start out with our coffee and my cafe con leche.  Both muffins were flavorless.  Mine was apple and I could not taste apple AT ALL.  It was the densest, dryest muffin ever.  My friend ordered choc. chip and got raisin bran by mistake.  I love raisin bran so I said I'd take it home.  Friend said taste it first.  I did and we actually sent it back!  Who sends back muffins???  It was that tasteless.  I actually had better breakfasts at CUP in Astoria near the movie theaters.  Bummer.

Please, I hope you didn't take that personally since you're not cooking there.  And my cafe con leche was lovely.  I'm always on the hunt for really good breakfast and dinners since I seem to eat those two meals out often.  I'm a firm believer that every day and every meal is completely random - hit or miss.  So I would check it out again this time for dinner!  Especially since I liked the look of the place.

Oh, no, no worries. I didn't take it personally at all. I think a good part of the fun of chatting about restaurants is tossing back and forth about when they're good, when they're bad, and so on. I just wish you had hit it during one of their dynamo moments -- it's too bad the culinary stars didn't align with your visit.
