The title of this thread says it all.

Question:  Has anyone ever attended the Macy's balloon inflation test event at Flushing Meadows Corona Park?  I heard about this event last year, and as a matter of fact, it may take place early in November.  I was hoping to catch it, so if anyone has any information on it, please post!

The Mommy Poppins blog lists a few Long Island Turkey farms.  Folks are encouraged to stop by and visit the farms or to pick-up organic and fresh Thanksgiving turkeys.

Anyone know of any forthcoming Black Friday deals in electronics, brick and mortar or online?  I'm looking to purchase a new camera.

The New York Times' Mark Bittman has created a great list of Thanksgiving recipes for the paper's Dining Section.  101 of them!  I skimmed through a few, and most seem pretty simple to prepare.

I'd like to make a vegetarian side dish to contribute to a Thanksgiving meal.  In the past I've brought a roasted carrot couscous dish (I think I posted the recipe on here at one point) and I understand that would be welcome again, but I thought I should ask and see if anyone has anything amazing (vegetarian) that they make and can recommend.

Does this mean that Shelby2 will be the only one in on your cornbread recipe?   Cry

I'll have to scour the internet again, but I recently came across a cornbread recipe that also includes chorizo, queso blanco and jalapenos.  Hope I find it.  Sorry Shelby, it's obviously not a vegetarian recipe.

Please, folks! Of course I will share the recipe! Really - What were you thinking?Huh? 2funny

I also have a gluten-free cornbread recipe.

Since I will be going to the Family Food Bash (so many relations of relations, I've lost count) I need to make both types of  cornbread.

I'll also share the menu you. Each year the Black Belt cooks in the family get together and plan the menu. Then emails go out to invited parties and you pick a dish. The recipe is sent to you. The fun starts then.

One year I was doing braised fennel for 18. I wildly miscalculated the amount I needed and have a photograph of the Forest of Fennel on my kitchen counter. I've learned to undercount. For sanity's sake.

Just as we recover from Thanksgiving, the Christmas menu comes out . . . Trust me, reading it will be a treat in itself.

A family member orders a fully cooked turkey and it is delivered to her home in Boston.  Is there any place in Jackson Heights that provides this service with a few trimmings as well?

I don't have the time to get involved in the preparations.

Best,

That sounds like fun ECG, and definitely the way to go when cooking for large crowds.  In my household, hubby and I are the black belt cooks.  The only difference is that we e-mail the recipes to each other because we're the only two doing the cooking!   Cheesy  I can't complain though.  Last year was the first time that we took a break from the kitchen and enjoyed a lovely dinner at Tournesol in Long Island City with some friends.

I noticed this ad  for turkey and trimmings take-out in the Queens Gazette today when I was looking at the article Aronan had posted about the CNN hero. http://www.qgazette.com/ROP/large/Bel-AireRestaurant.htm
but I don't know anything about them (in fact never heard of them before).

I've also seen ads for Whole Foods advertising oven ready turkeys, meaning that all the prep work has been done.  All you need to do is pop it in the oven for a specified cooking time.
