If you go to CNN 2009 Heroes candidates, look up Jorge Munoz who makes hot meals for many hungry people
up on Roosevelt near the BQE is a contender. You may cast a vote for him till November 19th at
CNN Heroes for this man who is really a saint! among us. He is a 44yr old bus driver who is cooking
these meals with the help of his family at home. He estimates serving over 70,000. meals to our
local needy men some of whom are also homeless. This kind of recognition could transform many
lives in our local area. Watch the video. Please vote!

Here's an update. Apparently he made it in to the top 10:

"It is widely recognized that the courageous spirit of a
single man can inspire to victory an army of
thousands. If one concerned with ordinary gain can
create such an effect, how much more will be produced by one who cares for greater things ?" -Chunag Tse

I saw his school bus picking up kids the other day near Travers Park...had a few hand-written signs in the window about the CNN hero nomination and I was wondering who it was.  Now I know!  Unfortunately someone spelled hero wrong on the sign...it said "heroe" as of a few days ago.  Probably one of the kids!

Oh, maybe that is why!  The rest of the sign was in English (Vote for our 2009 CNN Heroe, or something like that), but could have ultimately been a Spanglish sign!

A Filipino pushcard educator was named the top CNN Hero.  Our local CNN hero and the other 8 runners-up received $25,000 each so they could continue helping people.
