It seems obvious what the choices are for April's Food Group:

Terraza 7 Train Bar/Cafe for drinks
http://www.terrazacafe.com/
This is my favorite bar in the neighborhood and perhaps all time. Funky, artistic, interesting, and music which you can actually talk over. This used to be a car garage, but they turned it into a bar. If we don't come here with the group, I strongly suggest you check it our for yourself.

New Broadway Seafood in Elmhurst for Dim Sum

So far, Pings has been the nearest choice. New Broadway just started selling themselves and offering dim sum. Pretty place, could definitely be worth checking out.

Trieste for Queens Italian
It is tough for JHers to get good italian. This comes highly recommended.

check out the yelp review for other links.

Dates? Hows April 11? or 4th or 18th?

I've been to New Broadway Seafood and enjoyed it.  It was nice to have Dim Sum so close to home.
I love Trieste.  Best grilled portobello mushroom I've ever had.  Lamb shank, gnocchi, chicken scarpariello and grilled chicken all top notch.  If you eat it, anything with veal sauce is worth it.

I had a last minute thing happen and couldn't make it this past weekend (though I'll admit, the idea of Chinese Latin food also kinda sounded scary to me and I'm on a budget!)...

But I'd *definitely* go (as would a few other people I know) to check out Trieste.  I haven't taken the chance to go on my own with all of the amazing Italian restaurants in Astoria and Manhattan, but I've always wanted to try it! My vote goes there.

Hello-

Don't come around the board much but my gf and I would love to come to New Broadway or Trieste if you guys wind up doing it on the 4th.

Also, I am a photographer and shoot for the Community Journal, which is a local newspaper that is starting a blog about local food, culture, events and happenings. I think the JH Food Group is an awesome idea and I would love to take some pics...

let me know what pans out...

thanks,
Tim

Sorry.  I'm so lame for not showing up the last couple of times. I definitely want to make it next time.  April 4th might be hard for me, but not impossible.  April 11th would be the best.  I definitely can't make it April 18th.    As for where to go, I'll say Trieste even though I've been there before. It's delicious and decidedly different from the other restaurants we've been too.  We should probably make reservations ahead of time if that's where we decide to go.  I'm also game for Terraza.  I haven't been there in a while and I kind of miss it.

I'd prefer Trieste, been craving good local italian, but I'd love dim sum too. The 11th or 18th are better for me.

Hubby wants to do dim sum so two votes for New Broadway.  The 4th or 18th works best for us.  We could possibly do the 11th, depending on the time.  Would this be for lunch or dinner?

I guess we define good differently!  I haven't eaten in Trieste but have heard good things about it.  Armando's, Limoncello and Uncle Peter's all serve excellent Italian food and all are in Jackson Heights!

I would like to join this group. New Broadway is good, very diverse and well done dim sum. No shortage of tea places in the surrounding area, for a follow up bubble tea.

Hi! It's one of the newbies from the March food group gathering. My vote is for the dim sum. Also - wanted to share this link - http://newyork.timeout.com/articles/tour-new-york/73123/best-blocks-jackson-heights-queens

Looking forward to April's meeting!

New Broadway, 11th or 18th sounds good. I went to Trieste several years ago, not great.

Hey guys, turns out I can make it on the 18th as well now, so either of the remaining days is good for me.  Whichever restaurant we end up going to, I'll be glad to be there  Smiley.

The 18th looks like the best date. let's do it then. !

There are other people off the boards interested too.
