Sirens in the 80s?
« on: September 11, 2020, 09:20:24 PM »
There have been almost incessant sirens going on in the 80s for 10 minutes or so. Anyone have any idea what is going on? I was wondering if there was a big fire or something else.

Update: This Twitter account of unknown origin (not sure if it's reliable) says there is a fire on 84th Street:

Hope everyone is okay.

Thanks for the update -- I wondered what was going on!  I'm on 82nd between 35th and 37th and smoke/fire smells are intermittently coming in my window.  I also hope everyone is okay.

MASSIVE apartment fire on 84th between 35th and 37th. Multiple trucks on the scene. I hope everyone got out because it did not look survivable. (Checked citizen app--it's a two alarm fire.)

I hope someone who knows the family or families affected will set up a gofundme. I passed by this morning and one area of the 6th floor is gutted with burned and smoky item strewn all over the sidewalk.
