Restaurant beautifully decorated for the holidays?
« on: December 03, 2019, 09:13:54 AM »
I want to take a New Jersey friend for lunch in a Manhattan restaurant beautifully decorated for the holidays.  She just can't come out to JH.  I know neighbors don't ONLY eat in JH, so my appreciation for your suggestions.

Maybe some place around 5th Avenue bc they are really dressing it up this year, I hear. Maybe a German or French restaurant around there

Rolf's! There can be no other—behold this cheeseball video. So festive. The food is meh, but the sparkle is amazing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8z1EtWiggV8

Rolf's is wonderful! the long-departed Silver Swan in the same neighborhood was good, but Rolf's is peerless.

There are restaurants at Rockefeller Center at the skating rink level. I remember going to one for New Year’s Eve for drinks, and the ambiance was very festive. Great view not only of the rink, but the Rockefeller tree as well.

The Russian Tea Room is not bad for something kind-of special and festive around the holidays. I went at Christmas time for a few years in a row with a friend who liked to have their afternoon tea service, and it was fun to do a "touristy" thing, that had some New York City history as well, without actually being tourists.
