ConEd appliance rebate program

Has anyone tried this? I bought a fridge a few years back  - if I can find the receipt, I would try this program if it's worthwhile.

Yes, we tried it this summer and indeed, ConEd did give us a rebate. One thing to know though is that ConEd had us register the equipment as part of the process and on a hot day they remotely adjusted the temp on our AC thermostat. They did send an email about it and the fine print probably allowed them to do that but it made me feel very uncomfortable.

Con Ed wants control of your thermostat so they can send power to the wealthy areas of Queens. It is all about not wanting to make investments in poorer areas. Many people in our area struggle to pay the bills and have to be taken to court to have the service terminated. This costs Con Ed money. They already charge very high rates.

Considering one can override the adjustments, your conspiracy theory makes no sense.
