Day of the Dead Celebration 2019

Saturday, October 26th, 10 a.m. - 1p.m.

Gardening Activities & Community Altar Building

Leverich Family Burial Ground
Enter thru alley at 35th Avenue & 71st Street

Learn more about this space at www.hibridos.co/Leverich

Join Hibridos Collective and Jackson Heights neighbors in creating a community altar as part of the annual Day of the Dead celebration to honor the lives of the departed.

Bring a photograph of someone that you want to remember through the community altar or an offering, such as bread, sweets, flowers, or incense to share with the community.

Free activities for all ages include gardening, learning to build an altar, and writing poems for the dead in the Mexican tradition, also known as calaveritas.

The Jackson Heights Beautification Group (JHBG) will generously provide gloves and tools for gardening, and hot chocolate and Mexican sweet bread to keep you warm.

This is a fun event for those who are curious. Seeing the improvements to the Leverich cemetery will
be a bonus for anyone who is a repeat visitor.
