i'd love to see one of those old-fashioned Chinese-Latinx places (which were usually Cuban, but sometimes from other countries). i don't see someone using "fusion" to signal that, though.

how badly? a close friend of mine from junior high owns one his father started on the upper west side and i've always talked about bringing it over to Queens. it's not an easy feat but I would love to have one.

We do have Jardin de China on Junction, though.

i like Jardin de China. when  i lived in Astoria, my go to was a place called Nuevo Jardin de China, on Broadway. do you know if they are/were related?

Non-Spanish speaking residents not welcome?

They aren't even open yet, jeez. Their facebook page is in English, hopefully that will reassure all of the jingoists on this site.

From website:

"Helena FusiĆ³n Restaurant NYC was established in 2018 by two enterprising brothers who are lovers of fine cuisine and excellent food service. Throughout the years in Colombia, there has been an increased evolution in Colombian cuisine and service. We want to bring this new concept to Jackson Heights and the rest of NYC. Combine a touch of Colombian modernity, high-quality service standards, and a great atmosphere, add top-notch cocktails, and now you have a 5-star dining experience that anyone would be pleased to enjoy."

I think the fusion aspect is old and new or traditional and contemporary, vs. fusion of two different cuisines.

Every time I walk by Helena it looks a little bit more open. The latest has been TVs turned on and a platform outside seemingly for outdoor dining. Are they finally going to be opening? I hope so based on the decor alone! It looks like it could be really good so I'm eager for it to open.

I passed by this place the other day and it looked like they were building (or finished building) a large outdoor seating area. The weird thing is that their instagram account and website url, both mentioned earlier on this thread, seem to be broken links now.

it looked like they were building one of those 100 percent indoor "outdoor" seating areas -- plywood, plexiglass, no air circulation, thus not considered outdoor. Leaf, on Roosevelt, has one too. they'll be fined if they keep it up. just noting, not calling 311 or anything.

I didn't want to go totally off topic but it's an interesting point, so I created a new thread http://www.jacksonheightslife.com/community/index.php?topic=20248.0

We tried this place for the first time tonight and it was delcious. The coconut shrimp and pineapple was devine and the arepas with guacamole were also v good with a a top notch margarita. Excellent service and presentation. We sat outside to avoid covid and the super sized TV screens inside. I would highly reccommend.
