New Phayul restaurant on ground floor across street
« on: April 08, 2019, 11:24:48 AM »
Does anyone know what's going on here? I couldn't tell if they were open yet as it was early in the day but it feels
like they have had the space awhile now. Family and friends also love eating here and were telling them to hold on
till the new space opens.

Directly across from the current one on 37th road. if you turn the corner off 74th where the Army Navy gave way to the cell phone (or whatever) store. it's right there, they actually have small signage up indicating their presence.

Sounds delicious. But they have flies, raw sewage, cold food served hot,  hot food served cold and uncleanliness with added vermin, among other critical violations. According to the department of health.

you can find all of those violations in some combination at virtually every restaurant  in New York City.

a much-touted white tablecloth place in the area has been written up for:
Food contact surface not properly washed, rinsed and sanitized after each use and following any activity when contamination may have occurred.

Food not protected from potential source of contamination during storage, preparation, transportation, display or service.

Hot food item not held at or above 140º F.

Another of that ilk has:
Hot food item not held at or above 140º F.

Filth flies or food/refuse/sewage-associated (FRSA) flies present in facility’s food and/or non-food areas. Filth flies include house flies, little house flies, blow flies, bottle flies and flesh flies.

Food/refuse/sewage-associated flies include fruit flies, drain flies and Phorid flies.

Food not protected from potential source of contamination during storage, preparation, transportation, display or service.

i remember the pre-internet days when the Sunday Times would run a list of places that had been closed by the DOH every week. There were a lot of carryout places, of course, but invariably one or two high-end places -- steakhouses and French classics (including Lutece) would take the walk of shame.

Well either way, 70 points is a disgrace to be serving food to people

Pretty gross...doesn't matter where. Filth is filth. That's why there is a need for letter grades!.....and permits.
