It was very underpopulated at my voting place on 81st. People, get out and vote! This is an important race.

My family is voting after work but the whole election here has made me unhappy with the rampant
accusations. It doesn't encourage most people to think about the candidates and why they, as
individuals are voting. Am thinking that voters are really not energized here and turnout will be even
lower than the 20% the last time.

We need a better system to have true elected officials.

We will see what the results show us tonight, but it certainly seems like Caban will do well in JH, even if she doesn't win.

As a newbie to the nabe, can anyone tell me why JH seems to be such fertile ground for candidates like AOC and Caban?

Thanks!

why do some areas have a higher concentration of progressives and others draw regressives?

hard to say. the fact that this IS a diverse neighborhood makes a difference. very conservative people don't like that, as a rule.

the higher-income people are, as a rule, educated and working in fields that draw progressive minded people. education DOES make a difference in where you fall on the ideological spectrum, as study after study has shown. that's not a value judgment, just what data has shown -- and Donald Trump went on and on about how much he "loves the poorly educated."

we also have a large LGBT population, which skews more left than right.

Jackson Heights has always a socialist producing neighborhood.

true. the irish were socialist union people. the early jewish residents -- who were kept out for far too long -- were socialist intellectuals. proud tradition.

Well with 99% of the votes cast, it seems Cabán has a lead of over 1000 votes. I am going to declare her the winner. Katz (sore loser) vows a recount. The Democratic Party has been given a big black eye. I saw this coming because Katz is very weak candidate to be Queens DA. Expect big changes in Queens.

 A Better Way.

Is this an election? So few people show up. Such distinct lines even in the borough of Queens for
candidates? Really questioning if 4 out of 5 people even make the effort to cast a ballot, if this is
a system that works.

 Thinking hard today.

Maybe these absentee ballots will go Katz’s way.

There are some dead people that still need their vote counted.

Also too bad that the illegals can’t vote yet. (Or did they? lol)

Voters were defeated long before they got to the polls. A few thoughts: modern comforts and distractions; disenfranchisement (identity politics); discouragement (distortions and accusations); uninformed (disinformation and miseducation), manipulation through Marxist tactics and aggression (thought/speech control, such as seen in this thread).

I'm in your thread, controlling your thoughts and speech.

Where is the marxism here? Seriously, calling anything in contemporary America "Marxism" is an uniformed breitbart/fox-news talking point for "shit I don't like but can't quite articulate why".
