In all the documentaries and books I have read, it appears things were pretty bad under Nixon. Both politically and on a societal level. And we recovered from that.

I figure the future politically will get back on track.

The economy however will be forever changed due to Covid-19. Working decentralized and remotely will be the future.

So a major center like NYC will no longer need to be the magnet it is.

Plus if COVID-19 becomes endemic, and there's no fix for it...there goes the tourism industry.

I am imagining now that Amazon must be laughing. It dodged a bullet by not creating an LIC campus. The campus will now be online. Just like many, many other industries.

For an alcoholic not to have access to alcohol would cause severe Alcohol Withdrawl Syndrome (AWS) a medical emergency that would require an emergency room.  This would place an additional burden on emergency rooms treating corona virus patients.

Church services were put on hold because they involve crowds in enclosed spaces for long periods of time. Originally, they were still open for individual prayer following social distancing guidelines. The virus is thought to follow a formula for infection risk involving the size of the virus load x length of exposure. Stores that allow people to get in and get out are less risky than stores that require extended shopping like clothing stores.
