Heard that the Sterling bank on Broadway was sold for 14 million. The parking lot has been closed ever since. Here comes more construction.

It seems that the site located at 73rd and Broadway has been sold. The developer plans to demolish the site. I guess he liked the new Diversity Plaza because he paid over $50 million. I guess I was right that the bank didn’t like having those food carts and their parking lot being used by non customers.  The bank plans to move to another location in the neighborhood.

So was it sold for $50 million or $15 million?

$14 million was the final price. The bank will stay but in a smaller form.

It will be a commercial 6 story office building with stores. A hotel is always a possibility given the changes in zoning law as above. Also the size would allow a hotel. The owner also owns the triangle building across the street with the law firm. Expect something very big because $14 million is a lot of money to invest in that piece of land and the owner surely will expect a return.

I believe that in order to build really big you would need a underground parking lot. The owner probably wants to buy neighbors out to build a driveway on 72nd or 73rd.
