AC Falls Out of Window

On the way home last night I saw a bunch of people standing in front of the the Korean grocer on 37th Ave and 80th Street and it turns out a very large air conditioner had fallen from the second story of the building. The AC hit the awning of the Kim Brothers store and busted their awning and luckily no one got seriously hurt. One woman seemed to have a few scratches.

The AC was sitting on one of those platforms that are now required for window ACs. Now it's sitting on the street. If you have a window AC please be sure it's mounted correctly and securely.

Btw, the Dept of Buildings was called to inspect the building. Not sure when they will get to it. They were called also because no one from the building seemed to be present during this emergency.

Yes, no one hurt, but the woman who was attempting to put the AC in was terribly shaken and felt horrible, thinking of what could have happened.
Those AC braces that are required by law are really important to use. They are not too expensive and not that difficult to install. They come in sizes, depending on the AC's weight. 
Our building had an AC fall from a window into our rear garden nearly two years ago. Obviously the AC falling on 37th night a foot from the outdoor fruit display is far scarier.
