Renovations in Roosevelt Terrace?
« on: May 17, 2018, 01:56:41 PM »
Hello All,

I am new to this group and loving all the info so far. My husband and I are currently looking at an apartment in Roosevelt Terrace and before we pull the trigger we had some questions. The place we are looking at needs work before we move in.  New floors, new bathroom and new kitchen.  Since we would want to complete the work before closing we were wondering a few things:

1.  We see other apartments similar to the one we are looking at that seem to have removed one small wall to open up the kitchen.  Is this something the board will likely approve?

2.  The other stuff we want to do is pretty basic, put in wood floors where there is carpet, redo the bathroom, and potentially add some moldings. Any issues for the board to approve these renovations?

3.  Lastly, since we are looking to do this work before we actually move in, any idea how long it will take to submit and get approval for the work?  Will it likely be a lot of back and forth or will we be able to start pretty quickly after submitting?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to Roosevelt Terrace!

1. Taking the kitchen wall out in 1 and 3 bedroom apartments seems to be pretty common. I don't think they'll give you a hard time about this.

2. They'll approve basic stuff like what you listed. We renovated our bathroom and kitchen and they didn't push back or ask for additional details on any of the work.

3. This part is a bit more variable. I'd factor in anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks to get approval. There won't be much back and forth but I think maybe they meet in person to sign off so it depends where in the cycle you catch them.

Hope all the renovations go smoothly and that you enjoy living at Roosevelt Terrace.
