What's your favorite local news station and anchors?
« on: December 05, 2007, 04:19:50 AM »
I used to like WCBS but they fired everyone I liked.  I like WNBC and WABC the best.  My favorite anchors are Cindy Hsu, Dana Tyler, and Diana Williams.

Greg, for quick local updates, I'm hooked on NY1.  I tune in at any given hour to find the temperature.  I also enjoy the daily segments called In the Papers.  This segment highlights the day's news as they appear in The Times, Daily News, Post and Newsday.  Occasionally, they'll also have notable Daily Sun and Wall Street Journal articles.  My favorite anchor there is a guy called Pat.  Can't remember his last name.

Second on my list would be WNBC.  I just feel that I grew up watching Chuck Scarborough.  Is he still there?  I haven't tuned in in quite a while.

I have a masochistic tendency to watch Good Day New York in the morning.

I love Jodi Applegate!

Christina Park and Ines Rosales are also easy on the eyes.

I do NOT "do the Good Day", though.  In public.  Anymore.

Hey, does anyone remember that Australian guy named Gordon Elliott?  He'd go knocking on random doors asking to be invited in.  I'm pretty sure that he was part of the channel 5 news team back in the 90s.  What about Larry Hoff?  He's another mainstay at the local news channels.  Remember when he'd do all sorts of crazy stunts like walking on hot coals?

Yeah, I remember Gordon Elliott!

I shook his hand when he was covering New Year's Eve at Times Square once.

Hey, does anyone remember that Australian guy named Gordon Elliott?
He now produces the the Paula Deen shows on the TV Food Network.

What about Larry Hoff?
He's on the Morning News on channel 11.

BTW, I am a total news junkie; my drugs of choice are NY1 and CNN.

And is it just me or does Kaity Tong actually look YOUNGER than she did 15 years ago?

I've just never been that into Kaity Tong for some reason.

Perhaps she subconsciously reminds me of my mom.

My friend likes Liz Cho, but that hair is just too much!

I recently read an article in the Daily News stating that Kaity Tong had a severe mold problem in her pricey Chelsea apartment.  As a result, she and her hubby had to move into a fancy hotel.  Fancy, I don't know why.  I suppose if you have the money, you may as well flaunt it. ::)

Pat Kiernan on NY 1 in the morning when he "editorializes" while reading the headlines and featured stories of the day usually makes me spit out my coffee with laughter.  His deadpan, and bone dry delivery should win him some Emmy's....seriously.

NBC reporter Jay DeDapper was mugged yesterday.  Here's more info.:

On another sad note, I just heard that actor Heath Ledger has died.  He was only 28 years old, and an investigation is in process.

More of an opinion based program rather than news, Countdown with Keith Olbermann is one of my favorites...especially when Keith goes into a tirade and does his special commentaries.  He's not exactly low key, so don't tune in during a nap.   ;D

A while back, Ben Affleck did an impersonation of Olbermann on Saturday Night Live.  It was spot-on and hilarious!

I attended the dress rehearsal of the Inner Circle's 2009 show "Terms of Endurement" on Friday night.  Print, TV and radio folks---past and present--do a spoof on the year in review.  With recent happenings both in the City and Albany they had plenty of material to work with.  Every year they sing, dance and offer comic relief and all for a number of local charities.

I'm probably biased for them, since they've interviewed me before, but NY1 anchors and staff in general are more "real" than some of their local network counterparts in my opinion.
Think before you speak.  Speak your mind.  Mind your business.  Business before pleasure.
Any questions?
