MTA Capital Plan
« on: February 27, 2008, 10:58:01 AM »
Today, the MTA is unveiling its proposed new 5-year capital plan.

A presentation summarizing the plan is here.

Highlights for Jackson Heights include:

- Implementation of Communications Based Train Control on the E, F, and 7 lines.  This will enable the MTA to run trains more frequently during peak hours.

- #7 Train fleet expansion.  The budget includes the purchase of additional trains to provide this increased service.

- Purchase of buses for increased bus service on Northern Blvd., including a new route connecting the Woodside subway/LIRR station with Flushing via Northern Blvd.

I'll post more details as they become available.

Anything they can do to improve service at the 74th street hub would be great.  Has anyone else been experiencing the ridiculous overcrowding on the platforms at AM Rush times?  Monday I couldn't even go down the stairs, and today the crowds were about 7 people deep on the E&F side of the platform.

Monday's mess was caused by 7 train problems I've been told... but yeah it gets a bit too crowded down there even on good days
