Joe, there's nothing wrong with your vision!  You are correct.  So I'm thinking that's the 4th eyeglass store in a three block radius?  How do these similar stores stay in business?  And why open an eyeglass store when there's one across the street and another a block away?  I know I'm scratching my head in bewilderment.  But maybe with all of us baby boomers getting blinder by the day, they'll all stay in business.  I go to Cohen's on 82nd Street.

And those other eyeglass stores have been around a long time and have their own clients.  There are actually 4 others, there's one near 79th or 80th on 37th Street whose front looks like it may have been tavern at one time (wooden and red).

I have gone to Cohen's but now go in Manhattan on 13th Street near the Quad Cinema.

The logical conclusion is that there is money in the eye care business.

That's just it.  Same for the new Vitamin store on 78th St.   In the 20 years I've lived here, I've seen this over and over and over: stores open up with no forethought to what is around them, no  thought process that I can glean to the neighborhood's needs.  It's so damn sad to see.  And not just for the merchant who's put their time and money into the process, but for us, the consumer.   Some times I feel like just going in and shaking them by the shoulders and screaming: "what were you thinking?

Chuckster, I'm counting on you to bail me out if that happens!   :D

Don't worry Buddy.  I'll be that little voice of reason preventing you from committing such an act to begin with! ;D
