Trader Joe's has some good bargains on cereal and bread.  The only frozen items I buy occasionally may be some frozen veggies like broccoli and the edamame.

And the identity struggles continue at the Atlas Park Mall.  According to the Queens Tribune article below, the Amish Market may be evicted and the Stein Mart department store site may become a supermarket.

Oh, that is seriously depressing. The fountain only made children and onlookers happy. I guess that doesn't hack it in the commercial world.

It is a trek from JH without a car, but I always found it worth it, just for Borders.

Sigh.

I haven't been in a while but they had an excellent Coldwater Creek store - women's clothing as well as Chico's and J.Jill. Are they still there?

According to the Atlas Park store directory, the shops you mentioned above are still there.  I was at the mall a few weeks ago and did see the Coldwater Creek.

Now the New York Daily News is reporting that the Hemmerdingers may be plotting to regain ownership of the mall.

Some of the news that's been out on the Atlas Park Mall over the past few months been sort of conflicting.  Some articles say the mall is looking to expand despite foreclosure, others say it's dooms day over there.  The latest article cites a new casualty...this time it's The Amish Market.

From The Queens Tribune:

Atlas Will No Longer Carry Amish's Weight

I missed this last month.  According to the Queens Crap Blog, there may a Cuban restaurant in the works for the troubled mall.  Well, if true, it's something to look forward to.  There's also mention of a Subway sandwich shop, but that's not interesting all. :buck2:

Boris Sorin...sound familiar... :2funny:
I have been working with another young attorney, Boris Sorin.  He is very eager and do lots of work for landlords.  He s now reaching out to the general public.  His deep understanding of coops certainly places him heads and shoulders above many other so called RE Attorneys.

If anyone needs his number please shoot me an email

I was not surprised to hear about the foreclosure.  I never understood why anyone would build this place in an area that's so far away from public transportation and also the shops there did not jive with the Middle Village/Glendale area.  They were doomed from the get-go.  Not sure what the owners of Queens Mall plan to do here but will be curious to see how they'll pull it off.  I wish them luck.

Not at all far away from transportation - the Q29 goes right there and also the Q52 or 53, not sure. Takes about 20 minutes from Roosevelt and 82nd and goes by Juniper Valley Park - a really nice leafy park.

that's true, ECG. but i see contessa's point. fairly or not, i tend to ignore bus-route-only destinations unless i am really dead-set on getting to something. spoiled, having lived my entire life within walking distance of a train, i guess...

Most people within the NYC borders (except Staten Island) think of transportation as the Trains.  I hear it from buyers all of the time, they will ask "how far is transportation".  If I'm selling a property that is not walking distance (or is very far from) the trains, I would answer "the QM or the Q## is 2 blocks away and..."  I will get cut off half the time and they will say..."I really need to be able to walk to the train"That's a real shame because the buses can be quite easy to take to many locations within the city.  I can see how buses may be more prone to delays during the rush hours but overall it is simply a matter of conditioning.  I hope it works out for them as well.
