Bookshelves

Hello Neighbors,

I wanted to tap into the collective wisdom of our community concerning a remodeling issue that I have.  On that note, I respectfully request that you provide me with recommendations of vendors who can build and install built-in bookshelves, with room for a TV.  (I am aware that this topic has been discussed in the past, but the administrator suggested that I start a new topic.)

The following link from the NYT On the Market section demonstrates the type of work that I would like to have done:

https://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2018/12/06/realestate/on-the-market-in-the-new-york-region/s/09OTM-NYC-slide-2ZN2.html

For those of you who have had built-in bookshelves installed in your apartment, any regrets?  How much did it cost?  Was it worth it?  I want to as minimal depth to the bookshelves as possible; how deep are your bookshelves?

Thank you for all your help.  I truly appreciate it.

Every time we move, I have bookcases built in. We've learned a thing or two over the years. In brooklyn 2006 they cost $5k. In Jackson Heights 2014 we got it down to $800 by jumpstarting it using IKEA and having a carpenter trim it out:

Good luck with your project - and welcome to the neighborhood!

Hey, Minimal4me. Those shelves look really good, and so does your blog! Looks like I'll be spending some time exploring it today....

Hey Minimal4me, I also am enjoying going through your journey on your blog.

Constructive criticism - the scrolling title on your tab is extremely distracting, and while i'm trying to read my eyes keep diverting to the tab. Seems silly but I'm sure it would help your readership to have it static.

Minimal4Me, thanks for linking to your blog! I'm enjoying your posts about renovating your North Fork home (I grew up out there).

I don't know what the poster above is referencing in his/her criticism; there is no scrolling title when I view the site.

Simka, Thanks! I hope you enjoy it.

Jo3boxer, I agree with you — it's annoying the way it moves. I added it to the blog a few years ago when I was laid off and had time on my hands to tinker with Blogger design. In the meantime, I've forgotten how I did it and I don't have the time right now to research it again. As soon as I do, I intend to restore the old static favicon.

Lilybell, Love the Northfork! Can't wait for summer.

Although not what you are looking for, JDinJH, these are a nice solution and a great price for 4 shelves:

https://www.aptdeco.com/catalog/room-board-pisa-leaning-shelves-5

or if you want to spend twice as much for something more elegant:

https://www.aptdeco.com/catalog/cappellini-aliante-floating-shelf-unit

Both would be less than built-ins and you could take them with you if you move.
