those desserts sound fantastic. i love Lety's, but get in a rut there, because there are only so many options. this should be a great option.

Lots of details about Farine on Jackson Heights Post.

Items on the lunch menu will include avocado and smoked salmon tartines; naan pizzas baked in a tandoori oven; and a spicy fried chicken sandwich. Brunch items will include Eggs Benedict; spinach and goat milk frittata; waffles; and a chicken burger.

The establishment will serve traditional French pastries as well as some of Mignano’s unique creations. Baked treats include hand rolled dark chocolate candied ginger truffles; warm chocolate souffle with Sicilian pistachio gelato; and triple chocolate chunk cookies.

I'm confused about this:
The bakery will occupy two floors and will possess a rustic Parisian decor. The baking will take place on the upper floor, Mignano said, while the first floor will provide room for about 30 to 40 people.

That building has two stories?

Maybe they're building a baking loft! But seriously, that sure is confusing.

Shelby posted a LoopNet thing about the recent sale of this building, which mentioned adding stories along the entire blockfront.

I totally forgot about that. But it doesn't seem like they would be able to open in March AND built a second story for all the baking stuff at the same time.

maybe the lower level? a lot of the stores on 74th have semi-basement (like four or five steps down) tenants.

That makes the most sense.

I am not happy about this! I am able to avoid Cannelle because it's not a convenient location for me. This one is going to be way too close to my apartment and I can already feel my butt getting bigger.  ;)

LOL! You and me both!

Sounds great but I don’t believe 75th and 37th Ave would be a good location. That is on the border of the Indian area. I hope to be wrong.

I have lived here for 13 yrs, 1st apt was on 89th, current is in the low 70s, I would say that  it's a perfect location, 1 of the the main reasons is the proximity to the subway, as this is the type of business people will be visiting from other hoods. & I must say I am confused about the comment of it being in an Indian/ethnic area, when in fact all of JH is ethnic :) ??

Plus when you go to Cannelle's, it's like the United Nations.  United by patisseries, that is.
