Bruson Building
« on: June 18, 2015, 11:11:06 PM »
Following on Shelby2's news that Chipotle is opening at 87th and Northern Boulevard, does anyone know what food services will be available at the Bruson Building? So far, there's been lots of speculation, but nothing concrete. By now, there should be some firm agreements.

It's more of a pessimistic prediction, but..........yes.

I don't think that that image means anything. What I do think is that the Bruson Trust is at this point in a position to say who some, if not all, of its commercial tenants will be. I dare say that there are politicians that represent Jackson Heights who should also be able to tell their constituents who the new commercial tenants will be, or at least some of them.

The image provided by Lalochezia is a joke, of course. For one thing, Radio Shack is out of business, so it's an outdated joke. Last we heard there was supposed to be some sort of upscale food store, part of a chain but no name provided, as well as a bank. I guess they will announce when they are ready. I am also dying to know. It will be nice when the building is finally back.

As many of you may have already noticed, the scaffolds surrounding the Bruson Building have been removed.  That's good to see!  Hopefully, we can look forward to nice businesses occupying the available spaces.  Anyone have any further information on what we can expect?

As I understand it, the first confirmed tenant is Habib Bank: http://www.dnainfo.com/new-york/20151113/jackson-heights/bruson-building-welcomes-back-habib-bank-as-first-confirmed-tenant

that does make sense, since they were tenants before the fire. there's some major work going on on the 75th street side -- the former Armando's space and at least one other space, which seem to have been combined.

Uggghhh - I just saw this quote on an article on DNAinfo from a year ago:

Craig Bruno, who is part of the trust that owns the Bruson Building, told DNAinfo New York earlier this month that he'd like to see "major" chains, including Popeye's and Burger King, fill up the stores on 37th Avenue.

Yeah, that's what occasioned the Town Hall meeting a year ago (almost) concerning what businesses people really want there. There was a big to-do about this--guess you missed it.

Super yay! La Portena coming back to that corner is fantastic news!  Praying it becomes a reality ASAP.   :)
