Title: The new El Rico Tinto on Northern Blvd
Post by: JHMNY on February 12, 2019, 08:13:52 PM
Great news! El Rico Tinto just shared information on Instagram that they're opening at a new and larger location. The grand opening is February 14th at 73-18 Northern Blvd.

Here's a pic of the space they shared:

Very nice move here! Food is as good as ever. Huge fan of the tortilla soup and it was just as fabulous a few blocks over.
The restaurant is nicely appointed and cozy even. Hope that everyone makes there way over to the new location soon.

Yes at least I think so but on the door is ERL so you should look for those initials. Highly recommend!

Well, I went there Sunday at 10. The place was dead empty, but the divorciados were delicious as ever, and while we were eating there, three more families showed up. Go, go, go!

Does it still have the bakery component?
It appears to be just a restaurant.

I went once, maybe 2 weeks ago?, so right after they opened, and you are right, it is only a restaurant. There were a few sad baked goods by the cashier, but nothing like the previous locations. No cakes, etc.

Stopped by for a Friday night fish dinner. Had the Salmon tacos and the Shrimp tacos. Both were fresh and tasty. I did not like something in the Salmon tacos, but the Salmon itself was delicious. The shrimp tacos were delicious. We started with the Guac and Chips which were actually tostones instead of chips, with enough greens on the plate that the side salad we ordered went forgotten. No liquor license yet, so BYO for now. As someone else mentioned, the bakery is no more, but they still serve breakfast and lunch and have delivery. No other customers, so please stop by the new location if you want a tasty bite to eat.

that's good to hear. i always liked the shrimp tacos, and the cochinita pibil, which isn't easy to find around the neighborhood for some reason. have to get up that way -- northern is really no further than roosevelt (we're on 35th), but it seems like more of a hike for some weird reason.

ERT needs signage, perhaps it's up now? 2 wks ago I passed by & my 1st thought was signage will boost their business for sure.

Just wanted to chime in here to say we visited the new ERT, and it's truly excellent.

The menu is the same as the old location, and the food is fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. They definitely need a sign and some things on the wall, but the new space is very sleek and spacious, lots of potential.

We had fantastic guacamole, the lovely kale and mango salad, and huevos rancheros. The prices are extremely reasonable, especially for such exceptionally high quality. And the service was friendly and attentive as always.

PLEASE GO! There was only one other occupied table when I was there, and it was prime brunch time. I'm worried they won't make it if word does not spread and people do not start visiting the new location. I will definitely be back soon, but spread the word and visit often.

ERT is really a neighborhood treasure, and we're so lucky to have it back so soon after we thought it was gone forever.

I fully agree.  I was there this weekend as well, and picked up a take-out menu.  Their number is 718-255-6053.   They're not planning to join Seamless or Grubhub, but they are planning to start delivery.

Just ate at El Rico Tinto (ERT) in its new location (Northern & 73rd).  Nice, big, clean space.  They dropped the bakery operation to focus on the food, which is as fantastic as ever.  This time had their amazing coffee, great kale mango salad, big fresh quesadillas, but everything on the menu is good.  Open for lunch and dinner.

r.

Did they? They were operating out of the little bakery for awhile across Roosevelt right around the corner from Terazza 7 and Louie's, and when I spoke to the owner last, he said they were going to keep that location for baked goods. I was hoping the baked goods would make their way up to the Northern Blvd location (I have only made it once so far since they opened on Northern),

We went there this weekend. Delicious, fresh as on 37th, affordable, excellent service! It was  nice to see them busy!

A real gem. Go and support them if you like good affordable food in a nice environment - that's a real value proposition in JH!

They also have their liquor license, expect some delicious mescal cocktails.....

Food is still as amazing as before and tge space is more expansive now. Do come and support them on Northern Blvd btw 73 and 74. Their sign outside is ERT, not the full longform El Rio Tinto, so it is a bit hard to spot.

I could never make sense of the abbreviation for some reason

They don't have a current menu online, but if you're familiar with their food you can order delivery by calling them at 718-255-6053.

Yes! Just ordered from El Rico Tinto last night, and it was as good as ever. Had their delicious tortilla soup--the best, and perfect for a fall night! This place is such a gem.

we ordered over the weekend for the first time in ages, and absolutely as good as ever, if not better. they were out of my favorite -- the cochinita pibil tacos -- but we tried the salmon ones for the first time and those were delicious. fish was moist, plentiful and cut in large, tender pieces. nice accoutrements, too.

Thanks for the reminder--we should put them on our ordering-in rotation. Their former location was so close to us that we either ate there (not for dinner because they closed too early for us) or picked something up. It never dawned on me to order from them now that they are farther away.

It's easy to forget about ERT with its new, slightly-out-of-the-way location, but I just wanted to encourage everyone to continue to give them business. It's as delicious as ever, with many perfect cold-weather foods.

I picked up take out there last night, and at 8pm on a Saturday their large, quite lovely space had only one couple dining in. And mine was the only order waiting for pickup. I know brunch is perhaps their more popular meal, but the sight still made me a little worried about their long term prospects... I feel like lots of people were always coming in and out of their smaller 37th Ave location.

We got Mexican corn, fajitas, chips & guac, and kale mango salad, and ERT really continues to be some of the best, freshest, most thoughtfully prepared food in the neighborhood. I hope they are here for a long time. I also plan to dine in more at their new space, which is lovely and spacious, with large windows and a beautiful mural painted on the wall. I just hope there will be others there too!

P.S. If anyone knows the owners personally, they would really benefit from cleaning up what's now quite a confusing internet presence. They have no website (that comes up on a quick google at least), some of the phone numbers you find don't work, and other sites say they are closed or still list their old address. That part of Northern does not get a whole lot of foot traffic, so I feel like being easy-to-find online might help. Lots of their old loyal customers (most of whom probably don't read this message board) may have no idea they still exist, just a short walk away from their old location. I'm not a professional though; maybe things are actually going well and/or these things wouldn't help. For now, I'll just plan to eat there as much as possible!

If someone is a member of jhfamilies listserv, can they post the below message to it?
