Almost 400,000 New Yorkers are out of work. That's an unemployment rate of 9.1% in New York City.
With so many people looking for work, it is important to look your best when interviewing.
But how are you supposed to look good when funds are limited?
Charles' Hair Stylist in Jackson Heights has been serving the community for over 55 years and is here to help.
If you are unemployed and need your hair cut and styled, let us take care of you. Also - If you know someone who is not working and could use a cut, forward this information to them.
For only $5 (gratuity not included) you can get your hair cut by a professional stylist so you can look good in your next interview.
What's the fine print?
1 – Prices are as follows:
Dry cut for short & medium hair - $5.02 + tax = $5.25
Dry cut for long hair - $7.18 + tax = $7.50
Wash, Cut, Style for short & medium hair - $11.24 + tax = $11.75
Wash, Cut, Style for long hair - $13.88 + tax = $14.50
2 – You must make an appointment
3 – In order to receive the special price you must be currently unemployed and must present the Interview Special certificate. You may obtain a certificate by emailing your current resume to and include Interview Special in the subject line. Resumes will be used for no purpose other than to verify current employment status.

I think this is one of the most gracious business proposals I've encountered. I'm proud Charles' is in my neighborhood. More businesses would do well to learn from this approach to serving the neighborhood and their clientele.
