I second and third Juquila for their amazing food (and ambiance) but it's a different story when trying to order over the phone for a delivery. The manager seemed to want to scam us, so we ended up walked over to the restaurant to sort it out. But other than that, excellent excellent excellent.

Also, probably more Corona than J-Heights but Tacos Morelos is solid. Their camarones diablo is like a delicious fire in my mouth.

And, my weeknight go-to because it's quick, cheap and tasty: El Toro Bravo. It's perfect with each meal and the people who take orders are always ontop of things.

It really is amazing how many good mexican restaurants we have in the neighborhood. I try many different ones and the food is always good.

So true. JH and all along the 7, is a foodies paradise. It's a trip around the world.

Aquí en Bella Puebla
Tacos Morelos
Tortilleria Nixtamal
Tortas Neza

These are some of the best places in the city to get Mexican food and it all right here in Jackson Heights!

La Esquina del Camarón
Casa Enrique
Tacos Y Jugos Genesis
Juquila
El Rico Tinto
Coatzingo
El Coyote
El Maguey
Tortilleria Nixtamal
Tacos Morelos
El Toro Bravo
Mi Otra Casa
La Spiga
Aquí en Bella Puebla
Tacos Morelos
Tortas Neza

These are all the places mentioned on this thread.  I know from the article that La Esquina de Camaron (which I'm going to try out once lent breaks!) is Veracruzan and that Casa Enrique is Poblano.  Of the others mentioned, do they veer towards a particular region or are more like pan-Mexican?

Great question Palermo.  It made me realize that I know absolutely nothing about the different regional cuisines of Mexico.  Who can educate us about this?

I've also found it helpful to just talk to the people who work there about where I can find certain kinds of food because most places generally serve the basics like tacos, tortas, huaraches, etc. But if you're looking for something like a really well made pambazo you may have to ask around.

Most Mexicans in NYC are from Puebla. Esquina is the only place around with fish for a reason. It would be great to have more Oaxacan style restaurants here but it's just not the population. The place that comes closest to making a mole poblano that is as good as the ones I have had in Mexico is ERT, but not that close.

Hello, we have been working our way through the list provided a while back.  Today we went to Tacos Morelos.  WOW WOW WOW.  The food was incredible!  So fresh, and well prepared.  We had an El Pastor taco, one quesadilla w/guacamole on the side, and an order of chicken enchiladas with salsa mole.  Outstanding.

La Espiga is incredible, especially on weekends when they do specials like barbacoa or these crazy parrilladas de cabeza. El Rico Tinto has the best mole at that price range in the area. But also do not neglect the carts. The one on 83 and Roosevelt in front of the Santander makes remarkable $2 tacos. 3 of these and a beer at Terraza make an incredible dinner-and-show for under $15.

This thread reminded me to try Tacos Morelos—and I'm so glad I did! We got delivery, and everything was extremely tasty and fresh. The cemitas and the tacos were really delicious. Can't wait to go there in person; walked by the other day and it looks like a pretty nice (casual) place to sit down.
